why get laser hair removal?
The trouble with hair is it often shows up in the wrong places. Bikini line, under the arm, and on the legs, are the biggest offenders for unwanted hair, and few things are more frustrating that frequent shaving, irritation, and bothersome stubble, which grows back too quickly.
When you add the total cost of shaving over a lifetime, the expense is quite staggering. Women spend $10,000 on average on shaving products. From ages 21 to 55, women spend about $5,000 waxing their bikini lines. No wonder consumers are looking for a better, long-lasting method to eliminate unwanted hair.

Luna Plastic Surgery
ADVANCED LASER HAIR REMOVAL
Luna Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa is proud of our position at the cutting-edge of technologies in aesthetic medicine, and with laser hair removal there is no exception. To help patients comfortably and effectively achieve smooth skin, we provide the following:
SAFETY
The number one malpractice case for laser treatments today is laser hair removal burns. At Luna, we take safety seriously. Our treatment includes laser settings for your specific skin tone to avoid laser burns. Because laser hair removal targets melanin levels at the root of the hair follicle, it is critical to assess hair and skin pigment for personalized laser hair removal treatment, ensuring you can enjoy a safe and effective treatment.
speed
The treatment area (spot size) will determine the attachment used for coverage and shorter durations. We can complete the areas of the legs, back, and chest quickly and efficiently. For smaller areas like, under the arms, bikini line, and above the lip, we use smaller attachments with the same effective firing mechanism for quicker sessions than other systems.
effectiveness
Our treatment system offers excellent results with fewer sessions. Because hair cycles through growth and dormant phases, this procedure requires only two or three treatment sessions with outstanding outcomes.
luna laser hair removal versus home devices
Today, there are many laser systems to purchase for home use. Laser hair removal devices available widely available online, but when you compare at-home laser treatment results with our state-of-the-art technology, there is no comparison at all.
- We are more cost-effective than home treatment because of the effectiveness of professional systems, creating desired level of hair removal in fewer sessions
- We remove more of targeted hair, with almost no regrowth
- We effectively assess skin and hair pigment for safe and efficient hair removal

pre-treatment instructions
Refrain from waxing, tweezing, plucking, sugaring, or electrolysis for at least two to four weeks before treatment. Hair follicles without shafts attached will not absorb the applied laser energy, which hinders effective treatment. You can shave the area as often as needed.
Shave or closely clip the area to be treated four to 24 hours before treatment; excess hair absorbs and wastes the energy delivered, reducing the amount that affects the root, as intended. Do not use self-tanning products or have spray tans applied during your treatment series
Avoid sun exposure for two weeks prior and post-treatment. If you have a history of cold sores (herpes) in the treatment area, notify us so we can pre-treat the area to avoid an outbreak
post treatment expectations
A mild sunburn-like sensation and swelling are expected and usually lasts less than one hour (rarely up to 72 hours). A non-steroidal like ibuprofen or naproxen (Motrin, Aleve) or Tylenol can be used but is rarely needed. Feel free to apply cold gel packs as needed.
Bathe or shower as usual. Avoid aggressive scrubbing including loofah sponges. The appearance of hair growth or stubble may continue post-treatment, usually for no more than two to three weeks. This appearance is not necessarily new hair growth. Treated hairs require time to be shed from the skin. At the three-week point, you should notice less regrowth in the treated area.
Follow up treatments are usually at four to eight-week intervals.
Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, prescription medication, and metabolism all affect how your hair grows and responds to laser hair removal.
Use sun block and avoid shaving, swimming, or hot tub/jacuzzi use while the area is irritated. Shaving or depilatory creams (ex: Nair) are okay between sessions. Remember not to tweeze/pluck/wax/sugar, etc. If you’re interested in learning more about Laser Hair Removal, call us today to schedule your appointment. Call us at 678.892.7820 or Contact Us Today!
