Liposuction (Body, Face & Neck)
Liposuction removes undesirable, subcutaneous fat in isolated areas that do not respond to diet and exercise. These areas include the hips, thighs, abdomen, knees, ankles, face, neck, and arms. Liposuction is most successful in people with good skin tone who are near normal weight but have localized fatty deposits. It is not a treatment for obesity. It is intended to produce a more flattering figure by improving contours and proportions.
The procedure involves multiple small incisions through which a cannula or hollow tube is inserted. This tube is used to break up and remove the fat beneath the skin. Several areas can be suctioned at one operative setting although your surgeon may limit the amount that can be removed safely at one time. Postoperatively patients will be significantly bruised and swollen and this will likely last several weeks. A compression garment is worn for several weeks to minimize fluid accumulation and facilitate skin settling.
Questions About Liposuction
Am I a good liposuction candidate?
Liposuction is a great solution for people who are at or near their ideal body weight, but still have areas of localized fat that cannot be reduced with diet or exercise. Good liposuction candidates should also have realistic expectations.
Liposuction patients should be at least 18 years old and should be physically and mentally healthy. Liposuction should not be performed on people suffering from medical problems such as lung disease, heart disease, or diabetes.
Like all surgical procedures, liposuction involves certain risks including the possibility of bleeding, infection, adverse reactions to anesthesia, and even blood clots. You will discuss all of these risks with Dr. Yugueros during your initial consultation.
What is liposuction?
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgery procedure that uses a cannula to gently suction away fat from areas of the body that collect excess fat. Liposuction is performed using local anesthetics to better remove the fat from beneath the surface of the skin. Liposuction can be an excellent way to contour the shape of the body, but it should not be used as a weight loss tool.
Which areas of the body can be treated with liposuction?
Liposuction can remove unwanted fat from many different areas of the body, including: hips, flanks, thighs, legs, buttocks, abdomen, arms, face, neck, and back.
How much does liposuction cost?
The cost of a liposuction procedure varies depending on the amount of fat being removed, the area of the country where the procedure will be performed, and the number of areas being treated Luna Plastic Surgery Center offers financing options so that liposuction or any other cosmetic surgery procedure can be made affordable for you. This can be discussed at your initial consultation.
